indian summer...

Alright, you got me, this post is not crafty. I just happen to have the most darling little pooch on the face of the planet. (no offense to my pet owning friends - I am confident you feel the same way about your four legged companions) This September marked the third year that Sophia brightened our home. We rescued her from a dog pound in Columbiana county. She has been enjoying the warm fall weather almost as much as I have. Her latest trick is to seek out acorns and attempt to eat them before we notice. This photo is from one of our walks today - hope you enjoy!

Had to include this gem, not a day goes by that Sophie doesn't have something comically attached to her beard!

wonky revelation...

So, here it is - the finished wonky log cabin; reveling in all of its glory. I must say I am a bit impressed with myself; this is the most expedient quilt project I have ever worked on! I really do love it! I finished coordinating pillowcases this weekend and plan to take on a couple of other pillow projects to complete the bedding. (namely the anthropologie pillow with the giant applique mum)

The next step is to have it quilted. I live to piece and hate to quilt, I am simply not patient enough. My thoughts are to have the center done with a diagonal grid and the outside border with a smaller diagonal grid. Should be simple enough; now to find a talented quilter who fits into the budget!

coming to a post near you...

It's DONE! My wonky log cabin quilt top is finito! I am so excited to actually be finished before the next round of the quilt along begins (circles this time - you should join us!) I realize that I am not as speedy as some of my fellow cohorts who have their quilts finished, like completely finished, quilted and on the bed already - but I am thrilled to turn my attention to pillowcases :)
Pictures to be posted soon - d a r n rain REALLY puts a 'damper' (haha) on outdoor photos.

Also - what joy is mine as I am the proud new owner of the brand-new-unreleased charm pack of Moda's newest line Blush. (yea for connected m-i-ls) I was going crazy reading everyone's blogs about quilt market whilst I am stuck in Ohio dreaming. I thought I would include a photo so you can dream a little about what you might make when you get some of this lovely line for yourself.

just another pillow post...

Continuing on with my affinity for beautiful, yet useless, pillows, I am again posting about my new favorites. These were listed over on the print and pattern blog. (if you love all things pretty, you should really check this blog out!) The pillows are from a store called John Lewis - maybe I'll pop in if I'm ever in London :) Personally, I think the bottom pillow would be way too cute recreated with yo-yos!

crooked house...

Last weekend I did a little experimenting with wonky houses. I am playing around with the idea of making one of these house blocks the center block in my wonky log cabin quilt. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! This one is made from fabric scraps (not the fabrics used in my quilt).

I machine quilted the block and turned it into a fun beach bag. I need to hang this tote somewhere that I will see it during the impending cold winter days.
